    Not really sure these work - seems like after every “frost” prices always increase.

    A friend of mine down in Florida has a moderately sixed Citrus orchard. Every winter when the threat of the first frost comes, he puts out 500 smudge pots. That's about 2000 gallons of diesel burned every 6 or 7 hours. Is there any wonder why the prices of certain fruits go up when there is a threat of a frost or a hard freeze. He has told me that he is more concerned with keeping his trees alive than worrying about the crops, Fruit can be turned into juices, but a dead tree takes 3 to 5 years to replace
