I needed a tool that could remove short weeds with root balls as well as tall weeds with stalks and much deeper roots. For small weeds, this tool easily digs them out and on ones with deeper roots, it grabs their stalks and pulls out the weed along with the roots. It works great on privet, bramble thorn stalks, and weed type grasses.
