I just retired and hope to spend some time on projects, but have limited space for a workshop. Hopefully, I can get some ideas from this site for modifying tools, building mobile stands, and storage for the tools I currently have (Shopsmith, small metal lathe, bench-top drill press, etc.). I might also play around with making some of the tools that would be expensive to purchase, such as thickness sanders and lapidary equipment.
One project I am trying now is the golf driver fossil scoop that I'm pretty sure was on this site. If it works, I will be making some as gifts for my fossileering friends!
My skills range from amateur to pretty handy depending on the application, and I spent many years in the trades doing carpentry, handyman, and repairs on plumbing, electrical, fences, and landscaping. One skill in particular that has served me as a professional aquarist and exhibit builder is working with various plastics, particularly acrylic and pvc.
As I progress, I hope to be coming up with some of my own ideas, modifications, and tips to share.
Thanks all,
bobthebug
