    Hello, all, from Making Sense!

Hi everyone, my name's Murray Pearson, and I run the Making Sense channel on YouTube (URL below). I was fortunate enough to win one of five of Keith Fenner's "What's In Your Box?" toolboxes this year, which included a set of Paul Jones's machinist jacks. I'm here to read all about them!

I'm a student machinist at Rosemount Technology Centre in Montreal; I will graduate in November 2017. I have experience in a lot of fields; previous careers include graphic design and pre-press; home renovation; website design, server programming and admin; and running a $5M cage-cleaning robot for an animal health research facility.

Hi Murray - welcome to HomemadeTools.net

Glad you got a set of those jacks! What's next up on your projects list? Can we help out with any ideas?

Well, actually today I am doing one of my totally-random tasks; I'm teaching basic electronics to a guitarist, and we're going to attempt to build a fuzz-box pedal. Machining will be involved in the case, of course, and now I'm going to scribble down a bunch of circuit ideas for us to test this afternoon. I'll have pairs of germanium, silicon and LED diodes for different levels of clipping/fuzz effect; the input stage is a type A transistor amp for boost; and there's an attenuator output. We got a 6-way 2-pole switch, so I can figure out now what to do with that, in terms of function selecting and indicator LEDs.

If one thing remains constant, it's change; and I NEVER know what the next project is! I will be posting in the future, of that I have no doubt.
