Hi all. About time for a short introduction.

Born and raised on a farm and done my trade as a motor mechanic and then as a heavy duty fitter. Much of my working life was in mining or construction but the last 5 years of work was involved in R&D and construction of radiation gauges for the mining industries. Best job I ever had but the pay was the worst. Can't have it all I guess.
I am now retired and am full time carer for my disabled wife but I do get a little free time once in a while.
I am currently burning brain cells to convert a typical outboard boat motor to electric but electronically my brain is pretty slow, but I will get there eventually and I'm sure a lot of ideas will be passed on from other members.
I'm sure I will enjoy this site immensely and have many a varied conversation.
    Regards to all
    Kevin.

Hi Kevic - welcome to HomemadeTools.net

Interesting project; what boat is the motor going in?

    Hi Jon and thanks.
Probably a 12 foot tinny normally driven by a 6 - 10 hp petrol outboard. I only need it for estuary / river / bay so I don't need a lot of power or speed.
thinking on the lines of maybe a 4hp preferably brushless 12/24vdc but finding one is proving a little tricky. A golf buggy/gopher motor would probably suit but they all seem to be be of 'brush' type so all thoughts are still open at present.
