we had a boat wench on ours 30+ years ago, and nice rear riding mower tires on it too.well front tires on the rear of the crane, oh so eazy to move and opperate.
looks great as long as it is slow enough that is dose not jerk up or down witch can be hazardous in some situations.ours was for engines in&out of cars/trucks. our adjusting link was on the back side. as I recall ours was towable. just leen it back on the rear tires and attach to the ball. probably not good for highway speeds but good for taking from the shop to house. my brother made it back in the 80's, it's still at his house across town since we closed up the chassis shop and he builds chassis at his shop at home now. I like his better than the hyd ram type I have. I suppose you could add a rheostat to that electrick one if it needs a fine tuning for some situations. keep up the great work!! your stuff is awesome!! I wish you lived next door as I dont hardly do squat anymore...but my brains wont stop doing it...and I need lots done.

Since it would appear to have a maximum of about 6 feet or so of available "lift" why do you need all that rope? Having only one row of rope would also tend to slow it down (closer to the drum, therefor smaller diameter).
The problem with the counterweight floor crane is its heavy weight which makes it hard to move. A motorized counterweight crane is the answer. Attaching a battery-powered trailer dolly to the crane is one easy solution.
