They (ATK) sure did, they ran Lake City Army Arsenal as well. Kind of in my backyard. The most beautiful array of old but well maintained ammunition equipment, toolroom, and the grounds themselves.
Right now it's Olin, before ATK, Remington. Capability of that plant alone is 1.4 billion, mostly small arms. Wish I had a dime for every round of LC brass I've expended, drawn from Uncle Sam's own armories on base.
