Far heavier, yet spheres for ball mills are produced the same way, minus external grinding. A local company makes them, near constant production. Why?
    They wear out!
Larger sizes start out hot slugs of round bar, getting a meatball type massage, then fed to tapered helical screws.
The Leberknödel seasonings burn off quickly.
