I have always felt that if a President or other ruler of a country sends troops off to war, he should have to accompany them. I almost guarantee there would me many fewer wars and the sould be shorter in duration, and result in far fewer deaths and disabilities.

Kings used to lead their soldiers in battle or at least were on the battlefield with them.
