I did a blacksmithing workshop focusing on tool making & I have a video of a guy heating a coil spring in a gas forge & slipping it onto a pipe held in a vise & pulling the rod straight again to make stock for punches

Wouldn’t be much of a spring as it wasn’t quenched to harden the steel to the correct rate.
When I was young I used to work in one of the biggest steel spring factories in the world, making coil and leaf springs for most of the worlds cars. Our coil springs fell off the forming cylinder straight into a bath of oil held at the correct quenching temperature for the required compression rate.
