I think that a lot of us are interested in CNC, but a little intimidated as to where/how to get started. Any advice for newbies?

    Hi Ken,

CNC is easy. It just takes a little help along the way. When I was 60 years old I didn't even know what CNC (Computer Numeric Control) stood for. Also, I knew next to nothing about CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing). If I can do it anyone can. The secret is LISTENING to all the SMART people. Ha Ha

I have had machine tools i.e. metal lathe and Bridgeport since the 1970's making stuff along the way. In 2008 I purchased a HAAS TM-1P CNC Toolroom Mill. I had no idea how it worked or how to operate it. I went at it slow and easy and learned how to draw up the parts in the CAD system and also how to assign the tool paths for the machining operations in the CAM software. I am now 69 years old and still LISTENING!!!!!! and learning everyday.

If anyone has any questions about CNC I am willing to share what knowledge I have accumulated over the years.

    John
