In my teenage years I lived in the Canary Islands for a while. At the Main market in the city of Las Palmas, all of the butchers had some similar rack on the front counter with prosciutto ham. Most households shopped daily for food for their kitchen. Nearly every household brought home 1 slice of the prosciutto to be used in several different dishes in their kitchen. I had never seen ham sliced so thin before.
