I don't understand Russian, and Youtube's autotranslate is not really helping out, but that looks like a great way to be able to cut tapered threads on a pipe with a lathe.
I had to make a 23/4-12 TPI nut over the weekend and for some reason I Don't have an internal thread cutter . Didn't want to take the time a grind an HSS cutter so I used a 1 1/4-12 tap similat to how it was done in the video only I backed off from the thread before disengaging the lead screw
Do they ever cut a thread? That would work for a straight thread also.
