I wonder how they contain the spray from that thing. A cylinder of moving air, maybe? The area directly around it seems completely dry.

I guess an air curtain, but I have no information...

Check this out. When I was a college student a long time ago he was one of my professors and came up wth this. Each "Valve" is computer controlled and at the time he was making them himself using hot melt glue sticks for the core.
