The other thing I noticed was that the cuts seem to go straight across, but the "laser" is being aimed up at a pretty good angle from the ground. And that sample cross section they held up looked like it had been chainsawed (saw marks) and torched afterward.

Since we have morphed into shooting down balloons. This is an interesting article. Balloons are not really that easy to shoot down.

When ever those super quick advertising videos run, ie tree lasers and most ridiculous face mask of all time, I immediately discount the material. Secondarily, in abject rejection to where those come from.
Jingoistic? Maybe.
Unfair stereotyping? Possibly.
Am I being a jerk, or has this become a conditioned reaction?

They missed the bark on the side of the log closest to the charred burn. Those pieces would have been cut first. The unburned side is where I would have expected bark strips.
