    Christophe Mineau's Tools

The last nail making factory in Europe

La clouterie Rivière, has been working in Creil, France, since 1888.
Still the same machines, same methods, even recycled cardboard and string packing.
Sorry, it's in French, but have a look at the machines !

Nails were first made by hand and so valuable that buildings were burnt down just to gather the nails from the ashes...

They don't seem very busy, maybe now they will be while Chinese nails are harder to get for a while.

Loved watching this, may they stay in production forever. It's a pity that they are not big enough to supply the whole world with nails, then perhaps we would get nails that don't bend when you hit them with a hammer.

This created steady employment for arsonist's working to make a living wage.

In India , you can still see people selling second hand nails, they have straightened by hand.
