    Lathe carriage lock improvement

    Hello everyone,
A usual problem on all small lathes is the lack of a good clamp with a handle for locking the carriage. The most common clamp you can see, is made from cast iron, is small and has an Allen screw to tighten it. My lathe wasn't exception to that, so I made a new clamp with a handle. The following video shows the process.

That OEM carriage lock is more substantial than many. A lot just have a thin flat piece of bar that often cracks. That is a very nice job you have done.

Thank you very much, I'm happy that you like it! It is as you said it "a thin flat piece of bar"; mine had been made from cast iron (something I forgot to mention in the video, sorry).

Thank you very much! The "when I grow up" was really funny by the way; Although you're not admitting it, you are very skilled and talented my friend!

    Cheers
