    I've thought about a brake on my lathe and I was thinking about caliper style brakes but on the motor shaft. A little bit more eloquent.

    Hello Ncollar

    Fully agree with you. It would also be more professional.
    But I had couple of reasons why I put it on the chuck;
    1. To prevent unscrewing of chuck.
    2. To have indexing fixture.
    3. To avoid additional drilling and new holes on my lathe (check my post Captain's Lathe Reverse Tumbler)
    4. This was much easier to do.

    Hello Nelson,

    My lathe is little bit bigger than G0602, most probably made in one of the factories in China, which are making Grizzlies.
    Not bad at all. Couple of differences compared to G0602. Lead screw is metric (20mm x 2mm acme thread).
    Nylon gears are 44 and 66, not 40 and 60 like in G0602. Beside the size, all the rest is the same.
    Made several modifications to that lathe and next project would be power cross feed.
    I couldn't get bigger lathe to my workshop, as I have 120 steps to my house and workshop
    is 3 x 2 meters only.

    Regards
    LMMM
