    Losing morale.

I would like to know what you think of the following list, which describes from worst to least of the disappointments and stresses which arise from your craft:
    1. Spending a long time & expense making something which is useless
    2. A stupid accident or injury, especially one which prevents you from enjoying yourself.
    3. A row with your partner about your methods, etc
    4. Discovering too late that a task is beyond your competence and that you must pay for expensive remedial assistance
    5. Breaking a cherished tool, or losing it.
    6. Mislaying something you had moments earlier and which you cannot find after a lengthy search.
    7. Getting simple arithmetic wrong.
8 Spilling the contents of a tool box, especially a collection of screws
    9. Muddling left-hand component with RH, orientation, etc
    10. Wasting money on things you did not need.

Please put this list in your order or add anything else which is even more aggravating.
    Thank you

If I were dumb enough to make such a list, the topmost item on it would be:

    1. Making lists of what is wrong with my hobbies

I thought some might find it interesting, but even those who find it stupid might be more polite than to respond as you have.

My response was admittedly harsh but I fail to see the purpose in documenting the things one finds objectionable in what is for most of us here an elective activity. If you're not pleased with what you're doing, find something else to do that makes you feel good.

Furthermore, many of the items in your list are really personal faults that the individual needs to discipline himself to eliminate. They're not items unique to the craft. The real self-satisfaction will come from learning how to stop doing things that frustrate you.

Making the very the last, bang on, dead to rights cut, getting interrupted and taken away for an 'urgent' reason, coming back and taking the last cut.

    Not sure how to give those an order of more or less gravity; but a similar train of thought drags me through projects, leaving a few that I need not face, but;
#3 I might be lucky not having partners; helpers do what I tell them.
#5 loss, and #10 excess, relatively under control. Started an inventory some time back, 2005 after leaving California.
#6 mislaid work, still looking for poltergeist traps.
#8 spills before sorting = dust pan. Afterward, occasional sorted spills, easy fix.
    Sincerely,

When you buy something new, "not a cheap model either" and it works great the first few times you use it then it doesn't work at all. Is about the time I smash it beyond recognition. One reason why I will never own another digital calipers.
