A Machined In Place Precision Lathe Chuck Reference

I was recently inspired by a YouTube video created by Joe Pieczynski. He demonstrated how to machine stops mounted to the face of his 3 jaw chuck that insured the part's front and back faces were almost perfectly parallel. Great idea but I got cold feet thinking about the holes he wanted me to drill in my chuck. This article describes a variation that is almost as good but does not risk me ruining my chuck.
