    There used to be ads in the back of PopSci wanting people to stuff envelopes is you had one of these machines you might have been able to stuff enough junk mail to almost break even in 5 years.

    With all of that hi-tech and expensive machinery, I guess they didn't have enough money left to put a simple plastic catch bin at the output.

    Yep save me the trouble of burning it by cutting out the middle man (IE the letter carrier)

    The machine is a Phillipsburg inserter made by Bell Howell since 1949.
    At the end where the pieces are coming out would actually have a conveyor to line pieces up, or a postage meter to apply postage.
    The video may have been a commentary to HR as part of an exit interview.

    The reason for the companies seeking people to hand insert was to evade the laws on personal messages and endorsements being sent for products.
    The Postal Service has a lot of rules involving that. Scammers seem to know just how to skirt the law.
