Making a die to press holes in sheet metal

I'm making a die to press holes in sheetmetal for making electric switchboxes. For the cutting parts I use an old rusty leafspring from a truck, the centering shaft is a cut off part of an engine valve and the rest of the parts are lowcarbon steels. The leafspring is very hard and needs no heat treatment for hardening to cut sheetmetal, it only needs very sharp tools to cut it.

Great use of available materials. Your lathe headstock sounds a lot quitter than most that I have seen in videos Punchers like that are needed in sheet metal construction often. GOOD JOB!
