This belt started out with square cut edges and by some means not shown ended up with nicely rounded edges.

Only thing that I saw that didn't bet clearly shown, was burnishing the edges of the nearly finished belt. I only made a few leather belts as a kid, brother made at least hundreds, plus wallets, holsters, et cetera. Kept himself in cigarette money as a teenager doing leatherwork.

I can see that the edge is already rounded when the pointed end is cut so what you are saying seems correct. However that would leave a concave edge on the hide and on the next belt cut. It would waste a lot of leather and time removing that concave edge on all subsequent belts cut.

point .01-.04was the slitting tool just a guide and as sharp straight blade. Point .5-.06 was the edge rounding tool it rounded the edges along the length of both sides simultaneously
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products

the burnish step was missed - I suspect it was towards the end when you see the strap placed edgewise up in a piece of tiber with a slot, and some dressing applied. The burnish probably occured after that step to take the leather from a cut convex edge, to the burnished rounded edge.
I've seen it done by hand, but have heard others saying it canbe done with a drill driven tool.

Many thanks, I can see it now you have pointed it out but for some reason it was invisible to me in the several previous times I viewed it. It’s so obvious now.
