Male bee dies after mating - GIF

Male bee or drone dies after mating.

The drone endophallus is designed to disperse a large quantity of seminal fluid and spermatozoa with great speed and force. The ejaculation is so powerful that it ruptures the endophallus, disconnecting the drone from the queen.

Could explain why I got 'disconnected' from so many queens back when I was young. Or maybe I was just a real a**hole back then. Probably the latter.

Bless his heart, that's his nuts still hanging on to her as he falls and fades away. Heck of a way to go.

Interesting that they had a camera focussed on the exact spot where the bee landed, considering that they were moving about quite a bit up in the air. Cameraman intuition par excellence.
