Methane is your friend, and likely no cockroaches harmed filming this incident.

As I understand it, seeing another report about this video, the author of the explosion filled the pit with spray against insects, added gasoline and alcohol. Finally he struck a match to see what could happen ... Lucky he didn't blow up his dogs!

When used by those who know and in a controlled manner, it is interesting. When a cannon is used to kill cockroaches, it becomes a disaster!

In the same vane (and if you're interested), look up any audio records of a guy called "Blaster Bates", a very funny man who gave after dinner speeches about his work as a jelly monkey in England.
I first heard of him back in the late 60's so he's very likely dead now and his recordings might be difficult to acquire.

When I lived in NJ over 10 years ago, the old (70+/-) guy across the street from me, his father was a blaster, he said when he was about 10-12 his father would send him home to get some dynamite and he would bring it back in his back pocket on his bike!

Two stories he told, was the first his father knew someone who had a rock in the basement and knew it all and asked to borrow a rock drill and some dynamite.
My neighbor's father offered to do the job for him, but the homeowner knew better.
After getting the holes drilled and charged the home owner set off the charge and the rock went out thru the first floor, second floor and thru the roof.
It then came down the same way it had gone up ending up right back in the basement.
Apparently the HO had drilled too far into the rock.

The second story was this farmer had a large stump in the middle of a cleared field and wanted to have it removed so my neighbors father went over and set some charges.
When the charges went off the stump flew about 500 ft. in the air, then the second charge went off and the stump flew about 100 yards into the woods.
I knew another blaster in NJ and they all seem to be a little odd!
