    Dynamic braking? Short the motor's wires together and it'll stop quick. I was watching his toes to see if he pressed a switch.

    As my eyes got older I switched my computer monitor to a 43 inch 4K TV. I watched carefully. The center bolt for the disc is loose. You would never see this seated. I think it's as simple as that. Just no ability to generate any torque when the disc is not afixed to the shaft.

    There could be a high speed low power motor hidden in the inside of the motor housing. He could lighly hold the steel against it to make sparks but could fairly easily stop it with his hands.

    Something is awry, no doubt. But it's interesting to see the "Asian Master" trope presented like this. The heraldic shield is also a nice touch.
