Biography:

First off I will never claim to be a machinist or gunsmith. I am just a guy who likes trying things myself. As a auto and heavy truck mechanic I was always fascinated with automatic transmissions. My career as a trans tech eventually lead into Hybrid units and electrical system's. I retired after 55 years. With that I always wondered what life would have been like as a machinist. My shop experience was limited to about three years with machine shop in high school and using special tooling at work. My Grandfather was a machinist and had his own little shop where he did gunsmithing for himself. He liked black powder guns. When I was a kid I sure liked visiting Grandpa's. Now I have my own little shop with a mini mill, Grandpa's Sears (atlas 101 lathe), drill presses, various saws and best of all Grandpa's tooling that I use everyday. Tidbit, I am working on the house doing repairs. I have a square that I use for woodwork. I get very frustrated when I cut wood and the joints are crappy. I grabbed grandpa's 12" Starrett square and holy cow his square is square. A happy camper. Thank you to everyone on this sight. I've learned a lot. Mr. Mikey.
