    When the upper and lower tank components are assembled, is it a friction welding process?

    Friction welding can only be done with spinning parts in the opposite directions the process you see for seam welding is exactly the same as induction spot welding only the two contactors are rotated while the seam of the tank is pulled between them

    Its "conduction" like a spot welder with metal-to-metal contact. "Induction" is heating through electrical resistance with non-contact.
