Moving up to the farm country in Bucks County PA back in the late 80's I got to follow a manure spreader on a twisty little 2 lane road. No way to pass, I was in a hurry, & I had to keep going as there wasn't any crossroads for a while. That took the romance out of living out here pretty quick.

I did some pest control work in the past, and one of the funniest stories involving a muck/manure spreaders comes from a very pi$$ed off pig farmer.

His sows lived in individual huts out on his fields, when they farrowed the local fox population would snatch the odd piglet, but more piglets were killed by the sows trampling them trying to keep the fox away. Another pest control team was brought in to bring the fox numbers down, this was before the unspeakable were banned from pursuing them on horseback, shooting foxes was and is still legal though. Anyway a Queens Council (expensive lawyer) had bought a house adjacent to the land and on the sound of a shot took to driving up and down the lane blaring his car horn, sometimes even before a shot was taken as he had erected CCTV to 'monitor' the fields. The farmers losses mattered not, only saving the foxes, in the end the farmer and the pest man cooked up a scheme and put it into action. On cue from seeing the pest controller the QC got in his car and did his usual horn blasting, just as the farmer was towing his pig effluent filled spreader along the lane, he got right up behind the thing and started screaming obscenities, the farmer dismounted his tractor and politely enquired as to what his problem was, further obscenities followed along the lines of "get out of my way you *EXPLETIVE* oaf", so the farmer was less careful climbing back into his tractor, apparently accidentally knocking the PTO lever into engagement, before he'd moved away half the spreaders load had been ejected, right into the open top of the RR Corniche the QE was driving... He didn't drive around blowing his horn after that...

Wow, that stinks! I need one of those for my neighbor down the road. I'll fill his pool for him when he's on vacation!
