By mixing it to a slurry, it allows the manure to be pumped out of the holding tank, and into waste treatment, or for use fertilising fields. At a piggery I used to work at, the waste from the pens was sprayed out over the adjoining fields which were used to raise seasonal crops such as asparagus and sorghum
