    I'm fairly certain you won't find one of those for sale in your local fireworks stand. That ball of pyrotechnics is huge makes me wonder what the size of the powder charge is in the bottom of the mortar to send the ball nearly to the stratosphere

    Not really all that much powder, as the shell get bigger the ration of powder to diameter starts dropping off.

    I must say, the most beautiful shell I ever saw was a 24" willow (bits of charcoal glowing as they slowly fall). My wife and I were standing near where it was fired so had a super great view straight up and raining down all around us. We were both wearing full protective gear so no panics.

    I haven't gone to watch a fireworks display since my kids were in grade school. out here where I live now the only town in the whole county has a population of 900 give or take 20. it is 14 miles away from the house twice a year they put on a 30 minute show we can sit in the back yard and see it from here so why go and put up with the crowd and the noise
