I am a retired (after 42 years of service) police chief. I have restored high-end, mostly European, cars, as a hobby for 40 years part-time. As a result of my part-time hobby I have what I consider a "nicely equipped" metalworking shop. I have lurked on this site as an unregistered member for many years and find the tool ideas simply fascinating. I have used a few of the ideas I have found within these pages and now find myself in a place where I would like to comment occasionally and maybe even, in some instances, contribute.

Since my retirement I am concentrating on restoration of my collection of garden tractors. This endeavor requires the use of sand blasting equipment, metalworking, paint finishing, powder coating, polishing, plating and fabricating parts which are no longer available.

Currently I am fabricating a air/hydraulic garden tractor lift table so I can comfortably work on these tractors while standing.
