You must be producing a lot of sparks to melt that OEM piece down!

I Also might mention if you use a wood miter saw for metal be prepared to clean under the rotating table as little bits of metal get under there and cause havoc and make it hard to turn until you clean it up good..also those little springey things are hard to get back in place.

What sort of blade do you use for metal cutting? Fibre or the new metal cutting saw blades?

HI Troppo, The blade is a regular metal cutting blade 10 inches in diameter and 1/8 inch thick same as the 14 " blades only smaller.. cuts metal up to 1/8 inch only.anything larger than 1/8" I use the band saw which is more accurate.nice thing about using this saw is the miter go's both ways @ 45*.

HI Troppo, yes it is a wood cutting saw but it will render it, not very good for wood any more as i said before the metal gets under the turn table and creates sluggish movement. also you need a really strong motor 14 or 15 amp. and after a while the motor will go out as metal is harder to cut than wood. This is the reason I have two miter saws one for wood only and one for metal only. this is not for the faint of heart to use. do so at your own risk !!!!
