    Micrometer stand

This uses a cast iron scriber base that was surplus (I have a better one) and some alloy from the scrap bin, only took a couple of hours to make. Not much else to say, its nice and heavy and does the job and easily holds large micrometers.

and screw it into a 1/4-20 threaded hole in a block of metal. When you're not using it to hold the mike it makes a great way to mount a camera - it's intended purpose.

If you have a Panavise with the ball mount that works well too.
