Milling Machine SPANMER (Draw rod removing Tool)

Been one that has annoyed me for years.
Grab the spanner to undo the milling machine draw rod, then put it down and get hold of the hammer to gently persuade what ever tool is in the mill to release itself.

So i had the idea to combine the two, by casting a lead hammer head to the shaft of the spanner.

I wanted to make a mold that if I do not get it to release from the lead hammer it would not be a problem. So a mild steel or stainless steel mold would not work.

Then I saw my wife's deodorant tin. That was substantially thicker than a beer tin and not too far off the perfect size.
So with a bit of fetling, a few hose clamps, a socket with the square drive fitted to be used as the base of the mold I was ready to pour. I did roughen up the spanner where the lead would be in contact with it.

What I did to minimize the gaps around the spanner shaft was to give the "filer" pieces a slight tap from the top to deform around the shaft.

    It actually released no problem.

The weight seems OK , perhaps I should have casted it a little bit closer to the spanner end, but will use it for a while before I decide to either remove it and re-cast it closer to the spanner or cut the open spanner off and fit something a bit more like a hammer handle.

But for now this is my "SANMER"
