Is that coil just hooked to a regular soldering gun? If so what kind of wattage is necessary?

I have an older trigger type like this one and it is a 125 watt if I remember correctly.

I'm certain this isn't working as an induction heater. The wire coil just takes the place of the soldering gun tip. It's getting hot, just like the tip would have, and transferring its heat to the vessel and the metal inside (which is probably bits of solder).

No induction going on here, but a nice little solder pot for tinning wires never the less.

That makes more sense, just a heater. I have made special heating elements for my soldering gun for various purposes. For example, bent in a "C" shape to use on shrink tube.

If you search for "induction" on here, there are several threads about home made induction heaters. They is more to them than just it seems a simple soldering gun can provide.

If the metal in the video is being used for tinning, there needs to be some flux involved. The wire dipped onto that melt appeared to be coated with dross, which does not promote good solder connections.
