    Mini Lathe Cross Slide DRO

    New guy here.

I added a digital readout (DRO) to the cross slide of my Big Dog Metalworks (mfg. by Real Bull) 7x14 mini lathe. The mount is made from a piece of 3/4" angle aluminum, while the DRO itself is a digital indicator from Harbor Freight.

The mount is attached to the saddle using one of the holes for a follower rest, while the indicator bears on the cross slide. You can also see a sheet metal chip guard I added to the saddle in the pic above.

There are some more details on my site.

ETA: I should note that I got the idea for this from a post I saw on MadModder.net.

Thanks Dave...nice simple idea. Liked your website and projects too. Have a similar site with a bunch of mods I've done to my mini as well. Might take a look at my way cover...cheep and cheerful and last a long time.

    Thanks for the post! ~PJ
