    Mini Lathe Traveling Steady the easy way

    I had the 1" and 2" fixed steady rests for my mini lathe but did not have the traveling steady. I copied (sort of) the 1" making changes to fit the material I had on hand and trying to save some chip making time.
    I came up with what is shown in the pictures below. I did not make an extra set of jaws since the jaws for the 1" steady fit it well and I don't see using them both at the same time.

    They are part aluminum and part hot rolled steel from my stock. Two FH hex screws fasten the base to the steady and hold it on the carriage.
