    My arbors

I am sure this must have been covered in other posts but I am making 3 arbors to use in the lathe. One each with 1/4", 5/16", and 3/8" sizes. I have been trying to make a worm-gear drive unit and needed to get some 1/2" aluminum plate cut into a 5" diameter disk. I mounted the rough cut disk on a 5/16" bolt and clamped it into the 3 jaw chuck, but, it wiggled like a waffle. So I drilled a 5/16" hole all the way through a 1 1/2" length of 7/8" rod and reamed it to 5/16". I slipped a 2 1/2" by 5/16" bolt into the hole and then mounted the disk, securing it with a star locking washer, and chucked it up. Now it only wiggles enough to be noticed very slightly. Great improvement. I then tig welded the head of the bolt to the rod. I am looking forward to using these arbors as they should cover 95% of the bolts I use.

    Hi Gary,

Those arbors sound good. Post a photo or two and I'll get them added to the site.

    Thanks Guys,
Can you steer me to the post on how to put a photo up here? I have the three of the arbors finished. I tig welded one, mig welded the second, and silver soldered the third. Trying to see how strong silver solder is. I am a retired telephone technician and have soldered thousands of wires, but, just trying out the silver solder. Looks like it is a keeper.

Ho Boy. I must be doing something wrong. I tried to "upload files" in Firefox and Internet Explorer. Got nowhere in Firefox, couldn't even enter data. In Internet Explorer I was able to browse and select the pictures. However 3 upload attempts failed. I am wondering if my .jpg files are too big at 4.15mb. I tried to resize them in order to send them, but, couldn't find out where to resize them. Anybody care to help and clue me in as to what I must do. Thanks.

    Hi Gary,

Not sure why you're having trouble, as the images are sized just fine. I've sent you a PM with my direct email address. If you send the photos to me, I'll see that the arbors are added to the site.
