Well we made it, 2 days on the Rocky Mountaineer, 4 on the 'Canadian'. Interestingly when the national control centre in Edmonton had a problem the WHOLE of Canada's national rail system emergency stopped, we were in the middle of BFK at the time. As for Via Rail's 'Canadian', the trains are showing their age, and being sealed window recirc air only several unwell (covid?)passengers made almost the whole train sick...

Sounds like a nightmare. Isn't it super expensive as well?

As we went 'silver' not too bad as a once in a lifetime trip, 'gold' was almost twice the price, we budgeted £10,000 each for the whole trip, flights premium economy, car hire and dinners. One retired Dr and his wife with our group went full gold and business flights, cost them double what we paid!

I'd like to do it some time in my life. Every time I priced out a train ticket it's been like 3-5x the cost of a plane ticket.
