Need advice about cloak cape

Hi all!
I'm trying to build a "tabarro" , a long coat made by heavy wool, full wheel pattern.

I'm searching for cloack cape, with chain. I only found bad replicas plated or expensive old one.
I'm thinking about DIY, the basic way I think should be a slice of brass hammered, retaining dots brazed, with a sort of engraving. The chain would be made cutting a coil of brass wire.
Another way could be melting (silver?). I have no experience in this practice.

Ps: that's the 100% wool, up to 500grams/m, D&G origin. I bought 6 linear meters.
