Hello Everyone,
I have been following HMT for several years and now want to become a contributor. I am not a professional machinist but do enjoy building parts and improvements to my Unimat SL lathe. I bought the lathe in 1970 while working as an oceanographic instrument designer and prototype machinist as a way to pay for my undergrad education at the University of Washington. We needed the small Unimat for fine work because the next smallest lathe in the machine shop was a Hardinge HLV-H and rest were much larger in swing sizes. After college, I stored the Unimat and then forty years later decided to get it out and start using it again. I am glad I did because forgot how much I really enjoy designing and machining tools and parts.
I am looking forward seeing all the great work posted at HMT and having the opportunity to post some of my own work.
Best regards,
Paul Jones
