    new to this site/introduction

Hi all. My name is Nate. I own a tree service and small/scale logging company in the Great Pacific Northwest. Presently, I only operate part time as I am going to school. I decided to go back to learn some welding theory, learn to work with GTAW and just become a better welder in general. When necessity and lack of funds require it, I like being able to make my own tools from raw materials and scrap. Being able to make something which functions better than what I could buy in a store for less money than I would spend to buying it from someone else is very satisfying. That's how I found this site. At the moment I am looking at making a removable crane to load some maple burls onto my flatbed. When I found this site and started looking at all of these examples of people using creative ingenuity, resourcefulness, and some wit I knew I had to register. This is a great site. I like the spirit of it. I hope to learn here and hopefully maybe be able to eventually contribute something worthwhile as well. I'm just happy to be here. Thanks.

This is great to hear! It could be a motto for this site

Got any pics of that removable crane build in progress? I'm sure people would love to check it out.

    Hi Nathan,

Welcome - glad to have you here!

You've definitely got the right DIY spirit; can't wait to see your work. What are you planning to do with those maple burls?
