I just use a solo cup(disposable plastic drink cup). Break the filter loose as normal, then put the cup over the filter, squeeze the sides to grip the filter as you twist it off. When the filter comes off, you have it and the oil in the cup.

Don't use this method if the engine or oil is HOT!!!

Apparently user in GIF clip didn't like function or tossed instructions, clipped end off and attached hose. On some engine placement, last nights solo cup works, but the trend seems angled oil filter flanges now...

is this just for the oil in the filter housing, or do you drain the entire crankcase worth through this method?
I'm used to dropping the oil from the crankcase via the plug in the bottom of the case, then wrapping a rag around the filter and taking the filter off with hardly any mess. - but I'm also used to wrenching on old Aussie cars, not the more modern stuff.

Me and a buddy invented and developed this tool in Michigan. I saw some traffic on our site from this forum so I figured I'd take a look. If anyone has questions I'd be happy to answer! Thanks for posting.

The user in the video has the oil udder with drain kit option that includes the hose and combo plug. This is designed for higher volume applications so the oil flows thru the udder. This wasn't developed yet when the original promo vid was made.

Aha! Everything makes more sense now. Even our guesses at the beginning.
As one who always watches advertising with one squinky eye, often makes the real thing not so apparent. I may have transplanted from CA to MO, but the "Show Me" was already in place.
With a little stable of vehicles, 2 with big oil pans, we may do business.

Totally understand. We have been making more videos to try and showcase the functionality of the drain kit version, but we have no idea what we are doing behind the camera. It's been a learning experience.

If anyone is interested in the development process, seeing as this is homemade tools, here are some photos of the development process. The final parts are injection molded but we did all of our prototyping using urethane/silicone and molds we 3D printed. The main nitrile rubber component is molded inverted as you can see in the pictures to save on tool cost. The combo plugs (red) we still mold ourselves.
