So that bag is already started. How do you select the right string on the right end.

That’s the hard bit. I get chicken food in sacks sewn shut the same way and it’s easy like that maybe 25% of the time.

I've opened thousands of such bags. I get 1/20 right. Those sewn closures are the devil's own trickery. There is no tell, no way to know which or where to start. Grrr.

The pressure is high in my household, always an audience, two healthy canines. So even with bi monthly practice I occasionally don't pull the right string.

Delt with coal bags over the winter at work, the bags with the labels were easy. With the label facing me it was always on the left. The bags w o labels I would cut the sewn string hanging off the end of the bag and pick at the loose end of the string, 50 50 which end worked. At the feed mill I heard an old timer say to start at the end with one string hanging free. Have not had a chance to put that advice to the test yet.
