I would drive miles out of my way to avoid hearing the road noise from my tires plus the piano stairs would cause me to take the escalator to avoid the noise as well and I never use an escalator if there is a crowd of people standing on it, to me they just mean I have fewer steps to climb to get to where i want to go. I do like the moving walkways in the larger airports since if I walk at a brisk pace on them, I cover as much ground as I would at a flat out run. But please none of that muzak noise there is quite enough noise created by people without having to augment it
