    Piezo Sounder Housing

I'm using a 20mm piezo sounder disc, also called a bender in a project that will have 3D printed housings. I've been using the Hemholtz formula to figure out possible sizes for the resonating chamber and the vent hole. I need to make a range of tones for different beeps, so it's a compromise.

In testing some designs, I discovered by accident that at least when 3D printed, it doesn't even NEED a hole. This makes my life a lot easier finding a place to stick this.

I added feet to it so I can glue it to the bottom of the PC board and none of the pins sticking through will touch the disc. For this project, I'm putting it directly under a button so it will actually support the board.

Running off a lithium battery and driving straight from a PIC processor port, it's loud enough to hear from the next room...

My housing. The bottom is 1mm thick, the sides 1.5mm thick, the cavity 2mm deep and I printed the test unit out of PLA since I have it handy. The disc is glued onto the shelf with a flexible glue, I'm using Moment Crystal glue, but it's not critical.

Here's a picture of the completed speaker assembly

Of course, you could make these housings on a lath or mill, too.

And how it will fit in my assembly
