    Hmmm, if they were adjustable they could be used to climb all kinds of things...
    Though I would probably use a waist belt also for safety.

    The Velcro is only holding the weight of the metal shoes to the feet while ascending/descending, not for holding the weight of a human. The mechanical bind on the pillar is very strong.
