    Pin vise: two versions

Back in 2013 (photos keep track of date) I made this pin vise with a small drill chuck.

In 2007, I made another pin vise with a Mini drill chuck

In addition to being used as a pin vise, the mini drill chuck can function as a rotary tool

Adding a handle to the type shown in your first picture can improve its versatility. Especially so if you use the tool to grind points on rods using a bench mounted grinder.

Thanks, mklotz. Such a handle could be helpful in some tasks, although for grinding points on cylindrical rods, I prefer to mount them on the cordless drill, and for grinding or polishing irregular pieces I like to use hand vises.

By de way, I forgot to mention another pin vise similar to the first one.

These pin vises are very useful because in addition to a basic set of bits, a special tool can be made at any time and it is not necessary to have a handle for each tool.
