    It looks like he is hitting the trees on approach, but it doesn't seem like the trees would apply more force than the ground normally does.

    It looks like he hit a dirt berm/piles on the other side of the runway due to not being lined up on approach.

    They may not care. Smugglers sometimes fly planes into runways that they know are either too short or too poorly-maintained to allow them to fly out again because they were going to abandon the plane anyhow.
